싱가포르의 현대적인 쇼핑센터 내부에 한국의 전통 건강식인 삼계탕의 정체성을 공간적으로 재해석한 공간입니다. 단순히 음식을 먹는 공간을 넘어, 한국의 전통 의학인 '한의학'의 철학을 인테리어 전반에 투영하여, 방문객들에게 '치유'와 '휴식'의 경험을 제공하고자 했습니다.

공간의 핵심 컨셉은 '전통 한약방'입니다. 이를 시각화하기 위해 우리는 세월의 흔적을 고스란히 간직한 고재(Reclaimed Wood)를 주 재료로 선정했습니다. 고재 특유의 거칠고 자연스러운 질감은 공간에 무게감과 깊이를 부여하며, 싱가포르의 세련된 도시 분위기와 극적인 대비를 이룹니다. 이는 따뜻하고 아늑한 분위기를 조성하여 방문객들이 편안함을 느낄 수 있도록 합니다. 여기에 전통적인 문양이나 비례감을 현대적인 라인과 결합하여 세련미를 잃지 않았습니다.

천장에 매달린 한약재 묶음과 다양한 약재들은 시각적인 풍성함을 더하는 동시에, 공간 전체에 건강한 기운을 불어넣는 상징적인 오브제 역할을 합니다. 카운터와 벽면에 배치된 전통 약장 형태의 서랍과 다양한 크기의 옹기는 '정성껏 달인 보약'으로서의 삼계탕의 이미지를 강화합니다.

단순한 식사 공간을 넘어, 한국 전통의 지혜와 온기를 현대적인 언어로 전달하는 컨셉츄얼한 식문화 공간으로 완성되었습니다. 고재가 주는 시간의 켜와 약방 컨셉의 디테일들은 방문객들에게 깊은 인상을 남기며, 브랜드의 건강한 철학을 시각적, 공간적으로 완벽하게 전달합니다.

Korean Traditional Wellness Aesthetics in the Heart of Urban Singapore

This project is a spatial reinterpretation of the identity of Samgyetang—a traditional Korean health soup—set within a modern shopping center in Singapore. Transcending a conventional dining environment, the space embeds the core philosophy of Traditional Korean Medicine (Haniuihak) into the interior, offering visitors an immersive experience of healing and repose.

The design centers around the concept of a "Traditional Korean Apothecary." To bring this vision to life, reclaimed wood—bearing the rich, weathered patina of time—was selected as the primary material. Its raw, organic texture lends gravitas and depth to the interior, creating a compelling aesthetic contrast with Singapore’s sleek, modern urban context.

Enveloped in dark-toned reclaimed wood, the space evokes a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can feel instantly at ease. By harmonizing traditional proportions and subtle Korean motifs with clean, contemporary lines, the design achieves a refined sophistication without losing its heritage roots.

Bundles of dried medicinal herbs suspended from the ceiling enrich the visual layer while infusing the space with an atmosphere of vitality. Traditional medicine-chest drawers integrated into the counters and walls, along with handcrafted earthenware jars (Onggi), reinforce the narrative of Samgyetang as a carefully brewed, restorative tonic.

Ultimately, this project stands as a conceptual culinary venue that translates the wisdom and warmth of Korean heritage into a modern design language. The rich layers of time in the reclaimed wood and the meticulously curated apothecary details leave a lasting impression, seamlessly articulating the brand’s wellness philosophy through space.
